X Factor: Simon Cowell, renamed the Astronomical kid! As arrogant, obnoxious, talented and judgmental after his magnificent performance at the X Factor first round of audition at the Prudential Center on Wednesday (June 8) in Newark NJ.
The 14 year old Brooklyn rapper who's real name is Brian Bradley was the sixth contestant to grace the X Factor stage, seeking a shot at the X Factor US $5 million record deal, the biggest TV deal, thus far in the history of America. The young rapper stun the judges with his stage presentation, positive attitude, and high energy.
Similar to American Idol, the judges asked "why are you here?" The out-spoken "Astro kid" reply that he is a "rapper, and perform on BET 106 & Park, MTV, and made appearances on radio and TV talk-shows." L.A Reid asked "how come you haven't had a record deal? " The confident Kid responded with a high-tone of voice " saying its politics man" sending the entire audience into laughter.
Annoying Simon was about to ask the attitude Astro-kid a question, instead the young rapper removed his hat from his head and threw it on the ground, in a angry bad-boy attitude "yelling at Cowell." "Yo Simon stop looking at my mom, my mom." Same time his track came on and the high school freshman rapper utilize the stage singing, stop looking at my mom, my mom, my mom, what you steering at, look the other way. Everyone in the audience join the Kid in singing stop looking at my mom. The audience responded with screams of excitement and tone of applause as the rapper sang, even Judge Paula was singing along my mom.
The obnoxious kid got a unanimous yes from all four judges and a standing ovation from the fifth judge, the audience. The elated Astro-kid threw him self on the ground when he found out that he is going to Hollywood.
About the Astronomical Kid! Born and raised in New York where he resides with his mother. Astro attends high school in the Bedstuy area of Brooklyn, but what set this young emcee apart from other rappers is his ability to conceptualize and convey his thoughts over any track, in such a way that evokes nostalgia in the hearts of old school hip-hop followers, at the same time providing a fresh new sound that is sure to get the heads of the new hip-hop generation bopping. A contradiction in and of himself, Astro is a diehard old school rap fanatic. He spends much of his time studying the lyrical styles of artist in the likes of Rakim, KRS1 and Run DMC, just to name a few. Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smalls and Nas also serve as sources of influence for Astro. His greatest musical influence however, is Jay-Z, to whom he is often compared.
Astro has developed into a force to be reckoned with, ensuring that all who attends his shows will leave feeling completely entertained. The kid is a best of the best on stage!!! and as such his years of hard work or “paying his dues” as they say in the industry, 2010 has been the corner-stone/breakout year in which Astro gained the much deserved recognition due to his excellent performance. Never a disappointment, Astro continues to wow audiences along the east coast, performing a medley of his hits at events such as; the Kiss 101.7 2010 Spring Jam, where he opened for B.O.B, Fat Joe, Melanie Fiona and Cali Swag District, The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival, The City of Wilmington Delaware, The NYC Board of Education, the legendary Webster Hall in NYC and the Alabama Family Fest in Birmingham, AL where he opened for Chrisette Michelle, Kelly Price and J. Moss. All of which was just the beginning! Following the release of his first music video “Stop Looking at My Momz” aptly named after his single, Astro has joined the ranks of fellow Youtube teen sensations turned superstars; Justin Beiber, Diggy Simmons and Soulja Boy respectively.
